NWI Clarity Clinic is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Merrillville, IN

NWI Clarity Clinic is currently looking for a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician or mid-level. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, submitting prior-authorizations & refill requests, checking patients in, and answering phone calls. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and administering injections as directed by physician or mid-level.

We have two locations - Munster & Merrillville. The candidate will mainly work from Merrillville, but should be able to work from the Munster location, if ever needed.

  • Current Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA (includes principles and techniques of injections and medication administration) Preferred not required

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative tasks, such as filling out disability or FMLA paperwork, checking clients in, collecting copays, etc
  • Perform clinical tasks, including but not limited to; vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration), medical history, administering medication, etc
  • Communicate with patients and their families regarding disease prevention, health maintenance, community resources, and physician instructions
  • Observing and recording patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatments
  • Promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the appropriate RN.
  • Verifying that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately
  • Reviews medical charts.
  • Accompanies patients to their rooms.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance in a multicultural workplace setting
  • Assists clinicians
  • Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, PFT, and Doppler.
  • Prepares specimens for lab courier.
  • Provides wound care.
  • Assists with patient comfort.
  • Maintains a safe patient environment.
  • Under the direction of the RN, participates in the implementation of individualized plans of care.
  • Coordinates and maintains organized patient flow.
  • Performs patient intake: vital signs, height and weight, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, medication lists, and other interventions as required.
  • Reviews appointment schedules and ensures all patient charts are available for the visit.
  • Reviews patient charts and ensures that all ancillary reports and required paperwork are available to the provider at the time of visit.
  • Cleans, prepares and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workspaces.
  • Maintains the inventory of Rx samples
  • Administers immunizations as ordered by Physician.
  • Demonstrates appropriate population specific techniques with patients
  • Calls patients regarding test results and medical instruction under the direction of a Physician.
  • Assists with scheduling of patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
